Great Job City of Kingston

August5

My neighbour has a tree in her front yard which has already seen part of it collapse onto the road a few years ago.

The city of Kingston came out a few weeks ago to check the tree out, and thankfully declared it “safe”.  Yep, that tree will still be standing 50 years from now.

Oh…..wait:

032

Yeah….see that white house where the rest of the tree looks like it’s about to collapse on?  That’s mine.  But it’s okay because it’s “safe”.  Sure the slightest breeze sees it shaking and making weird creaking noises, but if you can’t trust the City of Kingston who can you trust?

Hell Yes

July30

I love days like today.

I had a work day planned today.  Changing the URLS of all my pages on Casino Answers.  So like casinoanswers.com/titan-casino-review/ would become casinoanswers.com/casino-reviews/titan-casino.php or whatever.  With over 600 articles on the site I have been stressing the day I decide to tackle this, as so much could go wrong.

I planned out 48 hours for this job – seriously I figured it was going to be a two day thing.

It was sorted within 48 freaking minutes.

A few plugin installs, a few hacks and boom – it was all done.  There’ll be tweaking and work to do but nothing urgent – I can chill out and relax and do it at my leisure now.

As if that wasn’t enough, I decided prior to the stress ball that I would relax and order Boston Pizza and treat myself.  After dining on mainly fruit & veg for a month I figured that would get me in the right state of mind.  Well I called and an old friend works there now and he is able to hook me up with the Clubhouse Pizza – a special pizza that was my favourite and they took off the menu 2 years ago.

Yep, it’s going to be a great weekend.

Semi-Retirement

July29

I hope everyone enjoyed the sappiness of the last blog update.  I really only wrote it for one person – and no, not Janise.  It was my buddy Frank, and sure enough I got the reaction I was hoping for a few hours after I wrote it when he sent me a message stating “omg you are such a faggot”.  It was worth being a faggot just so I could picture his face reading that crap.

We’ve been busy and out a lot this Summer.  It’s been really nice because my whole “working as little as possible” thing is going really well.  To me it’s really the little things that I appreciate the most.  Back when I was in workaholic mode and working non-stop, I found I couldn’t enjoy a lot of things like going downtown with my family, because I kept thinking “I gotta go back and work!”.  So it’s stuff like taking my kids out on the morning dog walk and just walking around for an hour or until they’re bored, with no care about when I get back home.  Or being asked “Want to go to the beach today?” at about 10am and saying “Yeah sure” and 20 minutes later we’re off.

The main difference is that I don’t have work that I HAVE to do – I just have work that I WANT to do.  So I’m not waking up in the morning thinking “Okay I have to do this today”.  I can wake up and say “Hey I feel like writing articles today” or “I feel like relaxing today and reading books”.  It’s rather nice.

Not much else going on – been reading some Vince Flynn and he is awesome.  Just racing through his books.  More just wanted to get that gay ass post of mine off the top.

8 Years

July23

Today is July 23rd, 2010.  That’s me and Janises 5th wedding anniversary, and exactly 8 years since we got together.

You know – like everyone, I make jokes about being married.  About how hell it can be bla bla bla – but at the end of the day, I consider myself the luckiest person in the world.

I’ll be 30 in 6 months.  A lot of people talk about how they have “stuff to do before they’re 30″ and may even have goals lists.  Maybe get a drivers license, or go bungee jumping or travel to another country or learn a foreign language.

I don’t have anything on my “things to do before I’m 30″ list.  I’ve did all that I would want to do by marrying Janise.   Someone whose face is the last one I see at night, and the first one I see in the morning.  Someone who I want to share everything with, and who I live to make happy.  Really that’s all I want to do in my life and is my one main goal – to make my wife of 8 years(officially 5 years) the happiest person in the world.

Because ultimately, I’ve married not my best friend, but my soulmate.  And that’s pretty fucking awesome.

Here’s to 8 years, and many, many more.

Sabbatical

July4

On the days leading up to the World Cup, I decided to take a sabbatical. I wanted to do just the bare minimum in regard to work every day, so I could relax and enjoy the World Cup. I worked like crazy up until the World Cup, and I had some plans of doing content writing during the downtime.

However I really didn’t do anything except relax. I started reading books again, playing video games, watching some TV & movies, doing a lot more with the kids etc. Last week we went to the cottage for the whole week which was fucking awesome, and I did practically nothing at all work wise.

I’m loving it.

My “work” is not the type of work where I need to be chained to my desk for 7 hours per day. Actually with affiliate marketing, you can sit back and do absolutely nothing for a long time, and as long as you’ve put in a lot of hard work prior to that, you should still see your income come in and grow.

That’s what I think I am going to be doing for the rest of 2010.

I made the decision this year not to build any new websites, and I’ve kept that promise – much to the shock of many people reading this :) I’m going one step further now, and am planning on doing basically the bare minimum when it comes to work for the rest of the year. I’m sure the same people that doubted my “no new websites” plan will be doubting this too and I can’t blame them – I’m a workaholic.

But man, as much as I enjoy work, I’m really enjoying relaxing so much more. Like today I took the dog down to the water and we just hung out there until we both felt like going home. Any other time I take Abba to the water we’re on a tight schedule – “okay 20 minutes then I gotta get back and work” or whatever.

I’ve always had something to do work wise – so it’s nice to be done everything basically, and I can just sit back and relax and have fun. I’m going to take up golfing on a regular basis I think, and hopefully some more sports once my ankle heals.

So yeah, sabbatical time. Should be interesting to see if I can keep at it. I’ll be doing the bare minimum every day and that’s it.

Now I’m off to……eh I dunno, maybe watch some My Name is Earl, or play some XBox or just go and relax outside with John Grishams the Street Lawyer.

I’ll just do whatever I want.
