How something so simple…

…can end up so difficult.

Just to show how my to do list isn’t a wham-bam-thank-you-mam kind of thing, here is just one entry:

Switch PokerAffiliateBible.com RSS Feed to Feedburner.

For those who don’t understand what this means – an RSS feed is basically something that you put into an RSS Reader, or on your web browser, or in your e-mail client, and it’ll notify you with any updates to the site, and a preview of the article.  It’s becoming very big in this Web 2.0 world, and is going to be even more important and more used in years to come.

With Poker Affiliate Bible, I’ve got a default RSS Feed.  It works, however it doesn’t offer anything to me – I don’t know who subscribes to it, or how many subscriptions I’ve got, or clicks I get etc.  This is information that I really need to know, as my main audience is going to be subscribing to my RSS Feed, and I want to know how best to market to these people.

Enter Feedburner, a program that you set up an RSS Feed with, and they deliver all that information and more.  However I can’t just make the switchover to this new one – I’d lose all my current readers that way.  So now I am looking at ways to carry over readers and it is crazy,  I mean there is a plugin that may or may not do move the users over automatically – it doesn’t really confirm one way or the other.  All it clarifies is that it will update the links on your homepage.  Then there is a big thread on how to do it with .htaccess but a lot of that information is out of date and just completely confusing.

So now I basically have to spend 20-30 minutes figuring out the best method to do this, another 10 minutes implementing that method, then ANOTHER 10 minutes testing it out to make sure it works.  Sigh.  Life ain’t easy.

Current To Do List: 55. 54 if I can figure out how this works!
