Video Games, Achievements & Movies
Well I don’t have an achievement challenge or anything set up yet, but I’ve decided the first thing to do is take my rightful place at the top of the NPP Leaderboard. This is probably going to be difficult, as nateeasy is #1 at the moment and looking at his list, he plays a LOT of motherfucking games. He’s also got some of the easier achievements though like Avatar and the 06 sports games, which may be enough to convince me to rent those games and do some easy achievement boosting.
We’ll see though – as dumb as it sounds, playing those types of games really makes me feel like I’m “abusing” the achievements. I’ll probably not bother with the easy boosting right now. Anyhoo I just added 2000 to my gamerscore, as I wrapped up Sonics Ultimate Genesis Collection and Gun yesterday, and got 1000 gamerscore points in each. Gun was pretty fun if short, and playing the Sonic Genesis Collection was awesome for a lot of nostalgia. Just a pity so many of the games sucked, and there really should’ve been a lot more games on it. Oh well.
Next up to play is Mass Effect & Skate for the 360, and Resident Evil 4 for the Gamecube(on the Wii). Looking forward to all 3.
Also I decided today I just can’t combine watching TV and doing work, particularly while watching The Shield. The Shield is just too fucking good, and I can’t concentrate on it and work at the same time. So I’m going to take at least an hour a day and just watch The Shield, while I’ll watch movies during work. I’ve seriously got a pile of over 100 movies sitting here on my “to watch” list, and thankfully I never have to pay full attention to most flicks.
So I’ve started today – Lucky Number Slevin is the first of many movies I should be going through.
Last night and today
Well last night me and Risto hit up the Merchants in Kingston. It’s a good pub with an identity crisis in that it’s a fucking pub, and has a bunch of shit bands, but trys to go for up-class clientele with their gourmet fucking menus. Like a clubhouse doesn’t just have chicken on it, it has “Grazed Herb Chicken” etc. No plain cheese pizza, but you can get a Brie & Pear one!!!
Anyway we had a few pints, split some nachos, and I had a hamburger. The nachos was a HUGE portion, and afterwards the hot waitress came over and was like “Wow you guys ripped that apart”. Yep – that’s how you impress a hot chick – with your EATING ABILITY.
I got home about 10:30 and was asleep by 10:45 which was good, and woke up at 6am with no hangover(god bless remembering to drink water), and decided to get to work. I got motivated to work on NPP, so I spent all morning and the afternoon working on NPP, upgrading it etc. I’m very happy with where it is going, and a lot of great additions should make the forum more fun, as well as more user-friendly.
Anyway I’m gonna get away from the internet for the rest of the day now because I’m tired of it and need to relax.
I love this Blockbuster unlimited games thing
I can’t remember if I wrote about this before, but I decided to get that Blockbuster $30 a month for unlimited game rentals. The only negative to this compared to the online companies that do it is I can only have 1 game out at a time. However it works out because I primarily wanted to use it for my kids, and with Blockbuster just a 15 minute walk away, it means I can go through a lot of shit games with ease, rather than receiving one, having my son play it for 5 minutes, hate it, then have to mail it back and wait like 3-4 days for a new one.
Case in point: I returned Dead Space after beating it. My son wanted Bolt but they didn’t have it so I got him Star Wars Clone Wars for the Wii instead. After about 5 minutes he fucking hated it, so I walked up to Blockbuster and got him some other kids game. He hated that too, so I went back again(what can I say I enjoy walking) and got Ratatouille for the Wii this time. Of course he hated that too.
The thing is a lot of these “kids games” are really geared for like 8+. Some of them are so ridiculously complicated – like pretty much every Disney game we’ve rented, they’re always a fucking tough challenge. Wall-E in particular is fucking ridiculous.
Anyhoo the Blockbuster membership is very handy for that. I went up tonight and rented the Sonic Ultimate Genesis Collection, so that should keep him happy for a few days while I finish off Gun and hit up Mass Effect.
On a related note, every time I am there I am so tempted to rent Avatar. That’s the game where it takes like 5 minutes to get 1000 achievement points. I just would feel so dirty if I did that though, but I’m sure I’ll cave before long.
UFC 97 Bay-Bee!
Got tickets today for UFC 97. I totally forgot they were going on pre-order, but thankfully all Canadians are cheap fucks, because the only seats still available when I went to order like 6 hours after pre-order was what I would’ve wanted, which was floor seats. Cost $550 but oh so worth it, and seats should be really fucking good. The section we’re in is Row A Seat 1-2, so should have a really nice view.
Can’t fucking wait!
