FM Blog Update #3: Tactic Tinkering

Posted by Scotsman on January 2, 2014 in Football Manager |

It’s now January 1st, 2014 in my FM game where I took over Liverpool in the Championship.

So looking at the league table, you might think things are going well, right?

No 🙁

I have two problems: Tactics, and Luis Suarez.

Let’s handle Suarez first.

The Luis Suarez Problem:

No matter what I do, I cannot get the best out of Luis Suarez. Actually not even close to the best. After a great start of 5 goals in 5 games on his return from suspension – with a goal in every fucking game, he has been an utter fucking disaster. He isn’t even getting any assists.

I’ve tried him in every position. Up front, up front out side, in the AMC position, AML, AMR. He’s been a Trequistara, Complete Forward, Inside Forward, Advanced Playmaker. It’s incredibly frustrating. What’s worse is he’ll still get at least 1 good chance per game – but often hits the woodwork or straight at the keeper.

I now know what Chelsea have went through with Fernando Torres.

That problem slips into my tactics. Because of my inability to get the best out of him I am questioning my tactics and thus changing things like crazy.

Here is all of the tactics I have used in the league this season:

Here are a few of them:

So anyway – onto other matters.

I have about 3-4 million quid to spend. Not much – means I probably won’t be getting anyone in unless I sell someone. Not a big deal to be honest with you – I’m happy with my squad for now and it’ll mean I can take some time to really get to know the squad and I don’t have to wait to focus on tactics.

Basically going to take 1-2 days off to fuck around with tactics – really think about them.
