Top Jack Reacher Novels

Posted by Scotsman on October 6, 2010 in Multimedia |

(Jan 13, 2013: I wrote a more updated and detailed version of this article here: Top 10 Jack Reacher Books. I recommend reading that instead.)

I was talking to someone about the Jack Reacher series by Lee Child today, which is my favourite series of all time. I love Mitch Rapp, but man nothing comes close to Reacher. I’ve read the majority of his books at least 3-4 times, and there’s a couple I have read more than 6 times.

Here’s the list of my top Reacher novels:

#1: Persauder
#2: Running Blind/The Visitor
#3: The Hard Way
#4: Killing Floor
#5: One Shot
#6: The Enemy
#7: 61 Hours
#8: Die Trying
#9: WIthout Fail
#10: Bad Luck and Trouble
#11: Gone Tomorrow
#12: Tripwire
#13: Echo Burning
#14: Nothing To Lose

In saying that – only Echo Burning and Nothing To Lose are really “bad” books. I do have to re-read Echo Burning again though. Also Gone Tomorrow and 61 Hours may be higher – I’ve only read them once, and I rushed through them so didn’t fully appreciate them. Without Fail is on my rereading list again. Think I’ve read that three times so far and thinking about it, I’m surprised I don’t appreciate it as

Persauder and Running Blind I am pretty sure would be on my list of books to take to a desert island, as I could reread both of them again over and over with ease.

I’m currently going through Bad Luck and Trouble again but just making this list makes me realize I haven’t read Running Blind in at least 6 months. Now I know what to read on the plane to Mexico!
