Lets talk Wrestling

Posted by Scotsman on April 1, 2010 in Multimedia |

My good friend Vin wrote a blog post Let’s talk some more wrestling. I hate wrestling these days, I really do. It’s boring as all hell, and there is never anything interesting happening. Discounting Wrestlemania which I order every year on principle, I’d say I have watched less than 10 hours of total wrestling in the last 8 years, which is rather scary considering how it was my religion for awhile.

I do still enjoy talking about wrestling, even if I don’t keep up on it. The days of the new Observer and Figure Four newsletters used to be a huge day for me. I’d get them, print them off, then go take a long lunch at a local restaurant downtown called the Golden Rooster. I’d order two of their famous sandwiches, a ginger ale, then sit back and read both newsletters from front to back.

Now I don’t even read the newsletters for the most part. Sometimes I skim them but that’s about it. However I do still enjoy talking about wrestling. Vin wrote his big article which I highly recommend you read and in it he posed himself some questions. I’ll answer the very same questions.

What is your favourite show of all time?

Wrestlemania 7. Period. This was the first wrestling show I was ever exposed to, and it was amazing. I still have fond memories of it. Plus it had possibly the greatest match in the history of wrestling in Ultimate Warrior vs Randy Savage.

Who is your favourite wrestler of all time?

There’s a lot of wrestlers I like for a variety of different reasons. Tazz for his gimmick in ECW, Santino for his comedy, Cena because – well he is awesome. I’d say my favourite wrestler of all time is Kurt Angle. He hit the ground running when he started, and he covered all the bases. He was funny. He was great on promos. He was involved in great storylines. He was an amazing wrestler that made it seem real. He was a joy to watch. Yep, I’d say Angle is without a doubt my favourite wrestler of all time.

What is your favourite match of all time?

HBK vs Undertaker at Wrestlemania LAST year is up there, just due to the emotion. As is Mankind vs Undertaker Hell in a Cell, again due to the emotion. To me that is what a great wrestling match is – one that makes you react. One that makes you sit there and cheer like crazy. One where you are interested in the match from the BEGINNING, not just near the end when they start pulling out finisher after finisher, and a variety of close pins.

So yeah, I’d say the two I just mentioned, HBK vs Flair, and of course Warrior vs Savage.

I think Vin is doing a follow up post soon. in the meantime go read his original post.

Yikes

Has it really been that long since I updated? Doesn’t feel like it. I’ve just been so busy on Casino Answers that I haven’t had the chance to write anything. I’ve also been ill the last 10 days with a 2 week virus, and still feel pretty crappy today wheee.

Not much to write here because as mentioned – still sick. I’ll write more later this week. Hoping I can get a little bit better today so I can enjoy Wrestlemania tonight. Just wanted to put in a little plug for this article: Can I Bet on Wrestlemania 26?.

What a Headache

Posted by Scotsman on February 27, 2010 in Gambling Affiliate Shit |

So back in November, I started work on a new casino project.  It was going to be a very simple question and answer site offering online casino information.  I launched this at the end of January, with the URL CasinoQuestions.org.

However, after a week I decided this just wasn’t going to work.  It’s all about positivity – people don’t want questions, they want answers!  ANSWERS!

So I went out and picked up the domain CasinoAnswers.org, and went about building that, forwarding everything to it etc.

Well, one thing that never left my head was the possibility of getting CasinoAnswers.com.  I was quoted $3k for it which to be honest I didn’t want to pay – the idea of $3k for a domain name repulses me.  However as I worked more and more on the website over the last few days, I realized that this website was fast becoming one of my best websites, and all the work involved in it, everything I have planned for it – yeah, I have no doubt this is going to be a huge brand name within a year.

So i sucked it up.  $3k down the drain, and I now introduce to you: Casino Answers.com

Enjoy!

What Motivates You?

Posted by Scotsman on February 20, 2010 in Life |

Motivation is a funny thing.  What motivates some people just won’t work for others.  Take quitting smoking for example.  For some people, just the idea of being healthy is enough to make them quit smoking.  For others it’s the fear of death.  Some people quit smoking due to financial reasons.  Others – hell, they can be told “if you have one more cigarette you’ll get lung cancer” and continue to smoke regardless.

When it comes to internet marketing and the work I do, I’ve never been motivated by money.  I mean – I’d LIKE to make money on every website I run of course, and the whole concept of money and being financially secure is a motivation – but it’s not really about the almighty dollar for me.

A lot of different things motivate me.  For example, I love to write – absolutely love it.  I’ve been writing on the web since at least 1996, and for the majority of those years I never made a dime, mainly because it just doesn’t interest me.  That’s why I run sites like Poker Affiliate Bible – I make money from that site for sure, but that’s secondary to the passion and enjoyment I get out of writing articles.

Then there’s my latest site like Casino Answers.  When I write for that website and work on that website, the motivation I get from that is making it the biggest casino informational resource online.  I want people to say “Hey, you have a question about casinos?  This is the website you should check”.  Kind of like how Wikipedia is a reference for practically everything these days.  I do think that site will make me a lot of money, but again that’s a secondary reason to making it the best damn site possible.

As I think about it, there are websites that I HAVE created purely for financial reasons, and they have suffered because of that.  The websites I create due to passion are the ones that I make the most money from, mainly because I think you see it in the end results more, that those are the best websites.

The whole point of this post though is to talk about how different things can motivate you.  Since being back from London, I’ve found it hard to do work mainly because my wife has been sick, and she’s been home with my daughter every day since I’ve been back.  It’s very easy to get distracted with people around, with noise in the background, with the TV on etc.

Yet today I’ve become incredibly motivated, and despite both kids being home have managed to get a shitload of work done.  The reason?  Because I haven’t played XBox 360 a lot lately, and as most of you know I have a $3000 achievement challenge going on, and I want to get back to work on it.  Yet I can’t because of all the work I have to do.  So I’ve been working my ass off since early this morning to get everything I need to done, purely so I can play Xbox.

Anyway one of the things I finally did was get Scotsmanality back online.  No there is no articles there – it’s purely for search engine purposes.  I still get a ton of hits for that phrase, so I thought I’d get a site online explaining WTF happened to Scotsmanality, and get some search engine love in the process.
