Another Day, Another Website
We didn’t end up going to the zoo today – I have a sore leg, the wife has a headache and it’s forecast to rain. Wheeeee.
So instead I spent the morning launching yet another website. This one is SOKOPoker.com – the complete guide to the poker game known as SOKO. Niche sites like that are GREAT to run, because after the initial work that is all done – I really don’t have to ever touch the site again. I’ll build some links to it, MAYBE add an article or two in the future – but that’s it. A few hours work, on a site that should be a nice little earner.
Going to take it easy today now; play me some Fallout 3 and hopefully beat that game soon, as well as get Casino Affiliate Bible fully launched, and Poker Affiliate Bible needs some updates. And that’s about it for me!
Spin City
Well as you guys know, while I work I watch TV or movies. Unfortunately a lot of the time it is just for background noise, so I can never get into anything good like the Wire or the Sopranos, so I’m generally reduced to stuff like sitcoms. I worked my way through MOST of Mad About You before giving up for awhile….and now I’m in the same boat with Spin City.
I just finished Spin City season 4 – the last episode with Michael J Fox as Deputy Mayor, minutes ago. So now I have a dilemmna – do I keep watching the next two seasons, the Charlie Sheen era? I mean I have vague memories of that era, and they are NOT good. Plus Michael J Fox and Bill Lawrence are both gone, along with the character James, who was generally pretty awesome.
I’ll probably give it a go, but I have a feeling I won’t make it all the way through. So many things that I remember being wrong with the Sheen era, especially Sheen himself. I fucking LOVE him in Two and a Half Men – but that’s because you get the feeling he’s not playing a character, he’s playing himself. Fuck, maybe he actually IS himself, and he’s just so drunk he really thinks he has a brother and so on. Reminds me of this AWESOME video:
Not sure what I will watch next while working. I’ll probably try and watch some movies, as I’ve not watched a good movie in awhile, and there are quite a few I have to watch.
Anyhoo – off to bed, as off to Toronto Zoo tomorrow. Wheee. One of the benefits of working for yourself. “Hey got any plans for tomorrow?” “Nothing really.” “Lets go to the zoo!”
Yay. Giraffes.
Today.
It seems whenever I write here, I’m writing about stuff that I’ve already did. So I thought just for a change, I’d write about my plans for today.
Unfortunately, they’re all pretty much work related. I’ve got a ton of e-mails to go through, and I have to get Rakeback Resource sorted out with all the June promos. Once that’s done, I’m going to hit up my 25 item “urgent” to do list, and hopefully get everything on that done by lunchtime. Then after a nice lunch of taquitos and Coca-Cola, I’ll get WNBATips up to snuff(got so much work to do on that, upgrading stuff and all this shit, doing proper SEO). Then I have about 5-6 more websites I’m wanting to get launched, so I will spend the rest of the day at least getting them UP, domain wise, content management wise, and header wise(as I already have the header).
Then I’ll try to get Casino Affiliate Bible up and running FINALLY – just gotta write some content for that but I’ve been putting it off for some reason. No more~!
And that is pretty much my exciting day. I have the WEC PPV to watch from last night, so what I will do is watch one fight, do some work, then watch another fight and so on. Breaking work up like that can really help productivity.
Or maybe I’ll just put Fallout 3 on “for a minute”, and then spend the rest of the fucking day playing that, in a 12 hour sessions.
Wouldn’t be the first fucking time 🙁
Hey I’m still alive
And I still have a blog!
Not updated in a few days as been incredibly busy. My mum was over from Scotland until Thursday, and my sister is over as well until next Saturday, so I’ve been busy with the family stuff. Also when there is a new month I have a lot of work to do, updating websites, rakeback payments etc.
To make matters worse, my 2nd playthrough of Fallout 3 has me fucking hooked. I’m covering EVERYTHING I can in the game this time around, as I plan on selling it immediately upon completion. I love it, but it’s just a time sucker.
Anyhoo, it’s been a very busy but productive week. I have launched 3 new sites. They are:
Ultimate Poker Search – This is a site I am really excited about. It’s something I have had planned since 2005, but never managed to get implemented until very recently. I’m working with Frank on this, and he has done just a superb fucking job in regard to all the coding etc behind it. This has been very fun to work on because we’re both very alike when it comes to work, work ethic, design etc so we’ve been on the same page from the very beginning of the site. It’s also just an awesome interface, and I think will be a real money site. I’ll be pumping a LOT of marketing money into this baby.
Darts Betting Tips – What else, but a Darts Betting Tips site. Only dedicated Darts Betting Tips site out there. I’m working on this one with Dirty Hun from NPP, and even though it’s only been online 3 days, due to my leet skills it’s already had over 200 uniques. I’m very happy with this site, and it’s covering a small but very profitable niche.
And also a 3rd site that I unfortunately cannot name. It is a mini-site targetted on a VERY lucrative niche, and there are other opportunities out there. If I was to tell you what it was, you’d see a TON of fucking clones of it, because I know a lot of internet marketers read this blog. Sorry guys 🙂
But yeah – very productive if busy week. I’ve been on my computer pretty much all Saturday and all Sunday. Just now finished rakeback payments, feel like I am losing my mind. Time to go to bed. Hopefully going to take a day off sometime this week
The worst computer I have ever worked on
I worked at a computer repair store for a year, and then did computer troubleshooting for people part-time for many years, usually visiting their homes to do work. These were all pretty old people who knew shit about computers, or people with teenage sons, so it was always a disaster. However it was relatively easy work – clean the fuck out of it with spybot & adaware, get rid of Norton/McAfee(which had expired subs anyway), throw on AVG and I was good to go.
I stopped doing that years ago, but I’m still the go to guy for my family and extended family. They have a computer problem? I’m the guy that fixes it. I don’t particularly enjoy it, but meh, I know that most people know shit about computers, and they’d get raped if they went to the Geek Squad or whatever, so I’ll clean it up happily while watching some DVDs or whatever, and not bother charging them. Good karma, innit?
But yeah – I’ve seen a lot of bad computers. The worst was my sister in laws that I had to work on back in January. I had to back everything up before reformatting – but it wouldn’t even copy/paste. I had to boot into MS-DOS and do it manually, and it wouldn’t recognize my USB drive or key, so I had to install a fucking hard drive on there, and then copy everything to it. To make matters worse, the hard drive was only 2 gigs(a real old one) and they had about 20 gigs of stuff, so yeah – I had to take it out, install it in another computer, move everything over etc – about 10 fucking times.
Brutal. And easily the worst computer I have worked on.
Until tonight.
I have my brother in laws computer here to fix. It’s been here for about a week, but I didn’t have time to do anything with it. Finally I had a spare hour, and figured I’d clean up any spyware(I was told it was “slow”), back everything up, and reformat. Nice and easy.
Ummmmm…..no.
How can I best explain how bad this computer is fucked up. Let’s see…
Have you ever ran Hijackthis before? If you don’t know what it is – it basically lists all the processes running on your computer on startup etc. The average user might have 20-30 entries running. I’ve seen 40-50 for fucked up cases, and I think the highest I ever saw was about 70 or 80, and most of that was just Logitech shit.
So yeah. 20-30 average, 40-50 if a bit fucked up, 70-80 in extreme cases.
This Hijackthis log? I think it warrants the return of a Scotsman trademark:
Over 8000.
Over 8000.
Over 8000.
I wish I was joking. I really do. But I am not. I am not even close to joking. This has over 8000 fucking entries in the hijackthis log.
Seriously. If you gave me a computer and told me to fuck it up – I couldn’t even BEGIN to get over 8000 entries in the hijackthis log. I am pretty sure if you went to Limewire, typed in “sex” and then downloaded any file that ended in .bat or .exe, you wouldn’t get even close to 8,000.
Just unbelievable.
Here’s the log for anyone curious. I’m off to kill myself just now.
