Dead Space

Posted by Scotsman on February 9, 2009 in Life |

I’m putting the title of the XBox 360 game Dead Space as the subject of this entry because really – that’s all I fucking did today.  I did some much needed work in the morning, but about 11am I ended up sitting down to have a session at Dead Space, where I played pretty much all day.  I’m almost done the game I believe as I’m on the 2nd last chapter, and I’m either going to go finish it after writing this entry, or do it first thing in the morning, then I can return it and rent Mason Bolt for the 360.

Once I had finished my Dead Space session I spent an hour working on the February newsletter for Rakeback Resource.  This is the first time that I am using an outside company to do the newsletters – in this case VerticalResponse.com – but it all seems easy enough.  Looking forward to these newsletters, as it’s been one of those things I’ve been wanting to get done for months, and now at a stage where I can actually do it.

Anyhoo yeah – I’m gonna go finish Dead Space then head for a bath and bed methinks, and get an early start on things tomorrow.

Tired

Had a long day today.  Up at 6am, and worked solidly until 1pm, at which point we drove out to my dads(about 45 minutes away).  We took the toboggans and went down big motherfucking hills.  I wore my sneakers because I’m an idiot, and with no grip I fell on my ass many, many times.  Then I built a snowman, and Mason karate chopped its head off.  I think I am going to have to sit down with him and let him know that the karate stays in the dojo.

After that we had dinner at my dads(store bought lasagna – ick), and headed to Walmart for some late night shopping.  We went in “to pick up some milk” and that was it – yet of course, the final bill was about $225.  Fuck I hate Walmart.

Now I’m going to head to bed, and wake up tomorrow and take it easy.  I already have my plans for tomorrow.  I’ll tidy up my desk.  Then I’ll do any needed e-mails.  Then I’ll do Cake Referral payments.  Then I’ll do the BuyDVDsForSale weekly update here.  All this while watching The Shield.  Then I’ll sit on my ass for the rest of the day and just play video games, and hopefully finish Dead Space, so I can return it and pick up a game for Mason to play over the next week, as I’ve got Resident Evil 4, Rainbow Six Vegas 2, Skate, Gun and Mass Effect all to go through.

G’nite.

So sweet.

Today I was at yet another family function – everyone here knows how much I hate these.  This one was particularly entertaining though, as my 8 year old nephew, who gets diagnosed with ADD and all that nonsense on a weekly basis, decided to have a major freak out.  Bear in mind he’s 8 years old – and he started screaming at his brother “YOU STUPID FUCKING IDIOT”, called his dad a “FUCKING SHITHEAD”, and called his mom a “FUCKING HO”, before being dragged out by his hair.

I’ve put my foot down BTW, and stated that if there is any family functions in the future where that child will be, my kids fucking won’t.

Anyhoo compare that to my son, who this past week we started the “checkmark” system with, where he gets checkmarks for doing stuff on a daily basis.  This can be like brushing his teeth, eating all his dinner, sharing with his sister, putting his dirty clothes in the hamper etc.  If he does all this by the end of the week, he gets a $4 allowance.  All week he has been so excited to get the allowance, and today was the day.  We talked about it, and he agreed to buy $1 worth of candy, and save the other $3 for toys.

So I take him to the candy store, and he buys $1 worth of candy, but then he wants two sticks of licorice.  I figure hey it’s his money – so he buys that too.  And what does he do with it?  Gives one stick of it to the wife, and another stick to Ella.

Just one of those great little moments only parenthood can bring. 🙂
